Overview

They say you can’t go home again, but Raine St. James doesn’t know why anyone would want to.

Rory St. James was disowned after she came out at seventeen. She rebounded by moving to Chicago, changing her name to Raine and putting down her hometown to audiences around the country. Now, ten years later, too old to be considered a gay youth, broke, evicted, and fresh off a much needed break-up, Raine St. James is forced to accept a job teaching at Bramble University in Darlington, the town she’s been publicly bashing for the last decade.

Beth Devoroux was born and raised in Darlington. Despite losing her parents at a young age, she is well loved by everyone who knows her. She leads a comfortable life with good job at Bramble University, a long-term but closeted relationship, friends that she can count on, and everything she thinks she wants, so why is she so drawn to a rabble-rouser like Raine St. James?

Can Raine and Beth face their pasts and come to terms with their differences in order to have any hope for a future together?

The Darlington Romances series are Standalone romances set in or connected with Darlington, Illinois.

About Rachel Spangler

Rachel Spangler never set out to be a New York Times reviewed sapphic romance author. They were just so poor during seven years of college that they had to come up with creative forms of cheap entertainment. Their debut novel, Learning Curve (Boldstrokes books 2008), was born out of one such attempt. Since writing is more fun than a real job, they continued to type away, leading to the publication of more than twenty novels. Now a four-time Lambda Literary Award finalist, an IPPY, Goldie, and Rainbow Award winner, and the 2018 Alice B. Reader recipient, Rachel plans to continue writing as long as anyone, anywhere, will keep reading.

Spangler currently serves as the senior romance editor for Bywater Books as well as offering substantive editing services for private clients. They love having the opportunity to mentor young authors.

Spangler lives in Western New York with their wife, Susan and son, Jackson. Their family spends the long winters curling and skiing. In the summer, they love to travel and watch their beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Regardless of the season, Rachel always makes time for a good romance, whether reading it, writing it, or living it.

About Melody Muzljakovich aka Melody Muze

My name is Melody Muzljakovich! I condensed my last name for most of my roles for everyone else’s convenience and it’s a clever way to tie in the muses from mythology.

From a young age, I have always been a visionary with an overactive imagination. It started with singing in my family’s band and then I was immensely inspired by animations that I often stayed up way too late to watch, Sailor Moon in particular, so I started dabbling in drawing, creating my own characters and giving them their own personalities and even their own voices using mine. The more and more I delved into my artistry, the closer I was led to my truest passion: voice over.

Being an animated, bubbly, talkative person, with a big imagination, and with a love for story telling and creating, it all clicked together. Now I’m working with fellow creatives to bring amazing projects to life and nothing makes me feel more fulfilled.

When I’m not doing voice over though, I’m practicing tarot reading, drawing up characters and designs, playing video games, and spending time with my friends!
